Who We Are

Maya’s Farm is a small, sustainable operation which produces high-quality specialty vegetables, herbs, flowers and eggs for local markets, restaurants and schools. We believe that fresh, locally grown produce should be accessible for all, because nutritious food is a requirement for good health. Taking food production away from local farmers often results in poor nutrient content as well as declining productivity of the soil, so we are thankful you have chosen to purchase from us to take stand for the health of your community!

Where We Live and Work

Maya's Farm is situated on nearly seven acres and nestles up to South Mountain Park in Phoenix, Arizona. The site is an ancient riverbed, where sandy soils and natural Artesian wells create a perfect growing environment. Consciously augmented through biodynamic techniques, this rich earth produces some of the healthiest produce available. It is an oasis of serenity on the edge of the city that’s also evolving into a place where people meet to learn about deliciously healthful, responsible food consumption.

The sharp, peppery flavor of the I’Itoi is well suited to southwestern stews and sauces, which often have robust, piquant flavors. The I’Itoi plant grows easily and prolifically in the deserts of the American southwest. Left in the ground during its summer dormancy, the onion re-sprouts toward the end of the season at which point it is harvested and replanted. The flavor of the I’Itoi Onion is garnering interest at a small, but highly visible, commercial scale throughout the arid southwest.
